Hexapoda was founded by keepers, for keepers. We specialise in captive-bred insects, invertebrates and reptiles — ethically sourced, raised with meticulous husbandry, and backed by people who actually keep what they sell.

Our story

Hexapoda started the way most good things in this hobby do: at a kitchen table surrounded by tubs, thermostats and a spreadsheet nobody else would understand. What began as a personal collection of geckos, isopods and feeder cultures grew into something bigger — a shop built on the belief that keepers deserve healthy animals, honest advice and kit that actually works.

Today we supply livestock, live food, terrariums and the equipment to run them, but the founding principle hasn’t changed. We only stock what we would happily keep at home, and we only sell an animal when it is genuinely ready to go.

What we keep

Our range is deliberately focused rather than endless. You’ll find:

• Reptiles — captive-bred geckos and other beginner-friendly species, raised in-house or by breeders we know personally.
• Invertebrates — isopods, springtails and other clean-up crews, plus display species for bioactive setups.
• Live & frozen food — crickets, feeder roaches and more, gut-loaded and ready to feed.
• Habitats & equipment — glass terrariums, vivarium kits, heating, thermostats, UVB, substrate and décor.

Keeping the range tight means we can keep our knowledge deep. If you have a question about a species or a setup, a real specialist — not a call-centre script — will answer it.

Our promise

Every animal that leaves us is healthy, feeding and correctly sexed to the best of our knowledge. Everything we ship travels under our live arrival guarantee, in insulated packaging with heat or cool packs matched to the weather. Every habitat and supply we stock is one we would use ourselves.

Husbandry standards

Good husbandry isn’t a marketing line for us — it’s the daily routine. Our animals are kept at species-appropriate temperatures and humidity, quarantined on arrival, and never listed for sale until they are established and feeding reliably. We gut-load our feeders, dust with the right supplements, and record what every animal is eating so nothing slips through the cracks.

Ethics & sustainability

We sell captive-bred livestock as a rule, not an exception. Captive breeding takes pressure off wild populations, produces animals that are better acclimated to life in a vivarium, and dramatically reduces the parasites and stress that come with wild-caught stock. Where we work with outside breeders, we choose people who share those standards. We’d rather have a shorter list and a clear conscience.
