Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Hexapoda website and any order you place with us. Please read them carefully before ordering — by placing an order you agree to be bound by them. [Placeholder wording: have these reviewed by a solicitor before relying on them.]
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Hexapoda (“we”, “us”, “our”). Our trading details are: [Hexapoda Ltd], [registered office address], company number [company registration number], VAT number [VAT number]. You can reach us through our contact page.
2. Eligibility to order
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase livestock, live food or any age-restricted equipment from us. By ordering you confirm that you are legally able to keep the species concerned in your country and locality, and that you hold any licence or permit required. It is your responsibility to check local laws before buying.
3. Products and descriptions
We take care to describe species, sizes, sexes and equipment accurately, but livestock is variable by nature. Photographs are representative and the animal you receive may differ in size, colour or markings. Sexing is given to the best of our knowledge and, unless expressly sold as “guaranteed sexed”, is not a guarantee. Availability can change without notice.
4. Orders and contract formation
Placing an order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we send you an order confirmation or dispatch confirmation. We may decline or cancel an order — for example if an item is mispriced, out of stock, the weather is unsafe for shipping, or we cannot verify your details — and will refund any payment taken in that event.
5. Pricing and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Delivery is charged in addition and shown at checkout. Payment is taken through our payment providers at the time of order. In the rare case of an obvious pricing error, we are not obliged to supply at the incorrect price.
6. Delivery and live arrival
Livestock is shipped under our Shipping & Live Arrival Policy, which forms part of these terms. Live animals ship only on suitable days and in appropriate packaging, and someone must be available to receive them. Any loss on arrival is handled under our Dead on Arrival (DOA) Policy.
7. Cancellations, returns and refunds
Your rights to cancel, return items and receive refunds are set out in our Refund & Returns Policy. For reasons of animal welfare and biosecurity, live animals and perishable live food are excluded from the standard 14-day cancellation right except where they arrive dead or not as described.
8. Care of livestock after delivery
Once an animal has been accepted and is established in your care, its wellbeing is your responsibility. We provide care guides and support, but we cannot be responsible for losses caused by incorrect husbandry, unsuitable housing, or delays in acclimating an animal after it arrives.
9. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, our total liability for any order is limited to the price paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
10. Intellectual property
All content on this site — text, photography, logos and guides — belongs to us or our licensors and may not be reproduced without permission.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
12. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published here when you place your order.
